Tatsuno has been rooted in Semba since its founding in 1934.
To us, the properties we own are more than assets. We see them as something entrusted to us, inherited from those who came before and cared for with future generations in mind.
This perspective has shaped how we have worked in Semba over the years: making use of what is already here, staying engaged with the changing neighborhood, and creating opportunities for people, businesses, and the community to come together.
With gratitude for the place where our story began, we continue to explore what we can contribute in return.
Growing with Semba（2000–2018）
Following the economic changes of the 1990s, we began to look beyond our own properties and consider how we could contribute to the future of Semba.
Working alongside local businesses, community organizations, shopping streets, and neighborhood associations, we became involved in initiatives across the area.
These relationships and experiences laid the groundwork for many of the projects that followed.
nakasemba as a living laboratory
(2019–2023)
Using our own buildings and spaces, we began experimenting with new ways to bring activity and interaction into Nakasemba.
Through art, cafes, markets, and community events, we created opportunities for people who live, work, and visit the area to meet and connect.

toward a regenerative semba
(2024–present)
Experiences developed over the years, we are now entering a new chapter. Our aspiration is to contribute to a neighborhood where people, communities, and nature interact in ways that allow each to flourish over time.
One expression of this is coton nakasemba, an urban community garden created as a place for connection, learning, and regeneration.
With regeneration and circularity as guiding principles, we continue to explore how new possibilities can emerge from Nakasemba through the relationships between people, place, and nature.
We do not believe a place is ever truly finished.
People, too, are part of nature. By paying attention to the many relationships already present in a community, we believe we can create the conditions for new connections and possibilities to continue emerging over time.
Guided by regenerative thinking, we are learning and experimenting alongside the people of Semba, carrying what we discover forward for future generations.
